“Honesty is the best policy”. If you can’t be honest with yourself, then you are in a lot of trouble. Most of us set unrealistic goals and then when we do not achieve them it may come as a surprise.
So in the beginning you need to be honest with yourself about where you are, how long it took you to get there, and what type of realistic commitment you are willing to make to get out of the rut you are in. For example if you work a 12 hour day and have kids, when do you have or make time for yourself? When you work long hours and you are a parent, life isn’t easy so we really have to become disciplined about what we do and how we go about it. Even though it isn’t easy, it can be done.
If you are 20 lbs overweight, how long did it take you to get there? You knew when your pants were a little snug that you should do something about it, but you continued on the path you were on. Then you went up a size and said “I need to lose weight”, but then you made zero changes and kept going. Then a few years go by, you are 2 or 3 sizes up and now you want to lose it overnight. This is why I ask you to be honest with yourself; you didn’t gain it overnight so you surely will not lose it that way. The biggest thing about lasting changes in weight loss is
changing your lifestyle. Honestly that takes time, patience, and you excepting that you will not always be perfect.
